Most design software makes a picture of a pool. PoolDraw™ makes the drawing of the pool — and one drawing carries the whole job. Here is the method, unchanged in principle since 1995.
The design is drawn at real scale on the Visio canvas, in the customer's living room if that's where the sale happens. The homeowner watches their pool take shape at true dimensions — not as an artist's impression, but as the plan a crew could build from.
Because the drawing carries real dimensions and real components, the job can be priced from it directly. What the customer approved is what gets quoted — no re-measuring, no translation loss between the sales sketch and the estimate.
The same file produces the permit set: dimensioned site plan with setbacks and utilities, structural sections, hydraulic and equipment schematics. Building departments get computer-generated plans drawn to scale, with the details where they expect them.
Crew scope notes, schedules, and detail sheets come off the same drawing, so the dig crew, the plumber, and the deck crew are all working from one document that matches what was sold and what was permitted.
That is the whole idea: the drawing is the job. Draw it once, and sell, price, permit, and build from it — without ever redrawing it.
PoolDraw™ was developed from best practices worked out in the field, automating how swimming pool design and construction paperwork actually gets done. It has been used by builders of concrete, vinyl-liner, and fiberglass pools for sales presentations and construction drawings — powerful enough for the drawing set, simple enough to drive during a sales call.
First released in 1995, PoolDraw helped move the pool industry from pencil renderings to computer-aided design. Over the years the PoolDraw™ family has also included companion tools — PoolDraw 3D™ for presentation modeling and PoolQuote™ and PoolOffice™ for pricing and back-office work — all built around the same principle: the construction drawing is the center of the job, and everything else derives from it.
PoolDraw remains in production use at paying customers today, producing the drawings on real jobs. The 2026 release carries the method forward for today's Windows and Visio environments.
